Suisgill Estate

River Helmsdale Association Waters
It is usually possible to buy a daily ticket for the River Helmsdale at relatively short notice, but during
June and July when the fishing is sometimes spectacular, it is probably better to book in advance as only 8 tickets per day
are issued.

Strath Halladale River
You can only fish this river with a permit. Beats are let by the week, at certain times of the year daily
lets are available.

Dornoch and District Angling Association
You will find six good fishing lochs in the Dornoch area. They all have boats and four have car access to
within a couple of meters of the anchorage. Bookings can be made through the tourist office in Dornoch.

Loch Duinte
The Loch is stocked annually as well as having its own population of wild brown trout. It is suitable for
disabled anglers as access is nice and easy. There is a boat for hire, this and fishing permits can be obtained from The Store,
Bettyhill.

Borrobol Estate
Loch Ascaig on Borrobol Estate in the Strath of Kildonan is recognised for wild brown trout from April to
September. It is fly fishing only, and there are three boats on the loch.You need to book in advance, outboards are permitted
for pensioners and disabled only.

Golf
There are several golf courses within easy traveling of the cottage, including Helmsdale, Brora, Golspie,

Shooting
Achentoul Estate
Hind stalking on the estate is carried out between 21st of October and the 15th of February. The estate
prefers clients to use their own rifles, though they can loan firearms if required. The day includes the services of a keeper,
at least one months notice and a deposit is required to book stalking.
The estate can also arrange rabbit shooting, and again the services of a keeper are included.

Golspie bowls club is open to visitors throughout the summer season.
Fairburn Activity Center
Offers a wide range of outdoor activities for kids and adults. It is worthwhile booking in advance. About
1 1/2 hours traveling time from the cottage.

Mountain Biking
The Highland Wild-Cat trails just outside of Golspie take you up Ben-Buraggie Mountain, there are trails
suitable for novices and families, up to experts. Only 20mins down the road, it is reputedly one of the best trails in the
